Stewardship

The Stewardship Committee Welcomes You!

So many different faces fill our pews, and for each different face, there is a unique reason for that person’s presence in our church. In much the same way, there is a unique reason that each one of us chooses to give of our time, talent and treasure to this church. Pledge cards are available on the Stewardship table in the vestry, located by the elevator.

Where does the Money Go?

It takes time, talent, and treasure to keep our active parish going. Our operating budget is large — approaching $300,000 — and it can be difficult to relate our individual pledges to such a large number. And yet, year after year, our pledges add up to support our life together.

If you would like more information about the church budget and financial goals, you are encouraged to contact the Trustee Committee, at trustees@exetercongchurch.org

How to Give:

Annual Pledged Gifts - Pledges are stated by filling out a pledge card, available through the church office or located on the Stewardship table in the vestry, next to the elevator. You may include a check with your pledge, or you may choose from a variety of payment options. These include:

  • Weekly payments — upon your request, envelopes for the cash or checks you wish to place in the collection plate will be provided.
  • Monthly payments — upon request, payments can be automatically deducted from your bank account or credit card via our new online payment system for Electronic Giving. For information and easy-to-use registration, click here to visit Vanco.
  • Securities transfer — many of our parishoners find it convenient to fulfill their pledge with a gift of stock or other securities. For more information, contact the church financial secretary at fwalsh@exetercongchurch.org

Planned Giving - There are a variety of gift options that can allow you to support both your family and your faith as you plan your estate. For more information you can enquire at the church office.

Frequently Asked Questions About Electronic Giving

Q. What is electronic giving?

A. Electronic giving is a direct payment program whereby your contribution is debited automatically from your checking or savings account, or from a credit card.

Q. What are the advantages of electronic giving?

A. It makes it easy for you to fulfill your stewardship commitment, even when you can’t attend church. Giving electronically also helps the church save money and improve its budget by evening out contributions throughout the year.

Q. How are my contributions automatically deducted from my account?

A. Once you sign up, the contribution amount you specify will automatically be transferred from your bank account or credit card to the church’s bank account once each month.

Q. If I do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight?

A. Since your contribution is made at a pre-established time once each month, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date. It will also show up on your statement.

Q. Is electronic giving risky?

A. It is less risky than writing checks. Electronic contributions cannot be lost, stolen or destroyed and they have an extremely high rate of accuracy.

Q. Without a canceled check, how can I prove my contribution?

A. Your bank statement gives you an itemized list of transactions. It is your proof of contributing.

Q. How much will this cost the church?

A. The costs to the church are small. The company that processes these donations receives 25¢ per donation when you give from your bank account. When you donate by credit card, the company receives 45¢ per transaction, plus the credit card fee of 2¾ %.

Q. What if I try automated giving and I don’t like it?

A. You can cancel your authorization at any time.
